Sebastián Yatra is an expert at taking leaps of faith and landing on his feet. His career, full of musical twists and turns, has always placed him in the right place at the right time. The Colombian was born with an innate desire to sing, although his biggest breakthrough came when, at age 12, he landed the lead role in High School Musical at a school play. At the time, he was in Miami, which many consider the cradle of Latin music in the United States —where he moved with his family at age 5 from the uncertain life of Medellín—and it was there that his stardom began to take shape. Initially, he used his talent to pick up girls at parties—as they call "flirting" there—but what he never imagined was that this artistic drive would eventually grow to take him to Broadway.
